Excellence without SacrificeThe Green Initiative

Being so close to the natural beauty of the Torrey Pines Golf Course and Torrey Pines State Reserve, The Lodge at Torrey Pines is dedicated to respecting the environment. Green travelers can rest assured that The Lodge is dedicated to minimizing waste, conserving energy and protecting natural resources.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines holds the highest status in the California Green Lodging Program – the Leadership Level. The program was designed to recognize the efforts by the California hospitality industry to minimize its environmental footprint, as well as steer green travelers to eco-friendly hotels and resorts.

In order to achieve Leadership Level, The Lodge at Torrey Pines had to develop and enforce a comprehensive written environmental policy meeting all seven of the program’s criteria: waste minimization, recycling, energy efficiency, conservation and management, waste management, freshwater resource management, and hazardous materials management, plus environmentally and socially sensitive purchasing policies.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is pleased to announce the implementation of a powerful new initiative that will have a significant and positive impact on the environment. Our new Sustainability Program at The Lodge at Torrey Pines helps enlist our guests’ support to assist with the California and San Diego County drought emergencies. As part of our efforts, we will exchange only those towels that our guests leave on the floor or in the hamper. Additionally, we will change the bed linens after every other day of use during their stay. If guests would like to have their linens changed daily, all they are required to do is to communicate this wish to us by placing a special card on the bed during their stay. The card will be presented during our evening turndown service and will be leaned neatly on the turndown tray on the bed so that it will be visible to our guests. The Lodge’s design complements the pristine beauty of the area’s pines and sandstone formations, with beam details that echo the windswept Torrey Pines themselves. Combined with the support from our guests, the goal of this new Sustainability Program is to support our local ecosystem.
